Old dogs and new tricks

I grin at some of my views. I’m certainly not mainstream. Part of that is that age provides a different perspective. Could you see me taking a twenty-something on a date? Dinner would be a disaster. What would we talk about? It is a bit like Jeopardy. I used to be pretty decent. These days I suck. Fortunately, I am pretty sure it isn’t dementia. It the new pop artists. I wouldn’t recognize them, JLo, and so on — on the street or in the form of an answer. There is my perspective and then there is now. We know about the things that interest us. My eclectic knowledge is dated and becoming more so. Read more…

Well, in a lot of places. One that I support is called Kiva. They do micro-loans in the third world to needy entrepreneurs. I have written about them in the past. I’ve sent a couple of gift accounts out to try to generate further activity. Read more…

That is a term poker players understand. It is part of the imaginary world where we are invincible — except when we’re not. I managed a cooler this last week but with no money available on any poker site I had to go further afield. Read more…

Nits and Lice

Well, the nicest, nasty old man from the southern climes scored again. I wrote a nice look the last time he final tabled. He made a comment to that that really made me laugh. It was to the effect he is just a nitty player and undeserving of any special attention. That sneaky bastard! Waffles will be spending some alone time in the john — happy that another email from Jack has replaced my dulcet prose. I should send a few Wafflesque adjectives his way but that’s such a well worn path. So, people … and even Waffles — enjoy Read more…

Yo Ho Ho

Ok, confessions of a “former” pirate. I have rebelled against many forms of media. Some weren’t even media when I started along that route. That said; I have never been a major pirate. I’ve known people that took it to obsession. I’ve never been a serious movie pirate. I am not a fan. The last three movies I saw in a theater were: StarWars -whenever that Jar-Jar Bing showed up. I saw the first Indiana Jones. I saw Dune but wasn’t too impressed. There may have been one or two more shows I attended but they don’t register.I do like games and have played them on a computer since the graphics were closer to an inkblot than art. A lot were actually text based and imagination replaced having a graphics card. Games that I got via “sneaker-net” would get bought when the price came down and I’d liked their effort. Could have been guilt but it didn’t feel like it. Today is the last date to opt out of giving Google your internet history. It is easy to stop. If you are a trusting so that believes the Google mantra “Do no harm.” then letting Google have that info won’t cause a problem. Read more…

Moving On (

When Black Friday hit the poker world, few were unaffected. Nowhere was this more true than in the blogging community. While nothing to talk about hadn’t slowed the community in the past, this struck close to hearts and minds . To help transition these lost folks to the future, I have started a company to market Keyboards for Poker Bloggers. Just send $79.95 to the Reptile Lubricant Division of Ken’s Enterprises.
