Wish this was made up
Ok, you are this mid-level guy trying to make a name for yourself. Need to get attention by solid decision making. What are the odds? Sometimes a low profile is better. Read more…
Gamble up and Deal
With the blinds at abusive levels, you don’t expect passive play; might run a few hand before an elimination though. Or not. We got three young men. But, even petite girls have control issues at times. Is it the poker table or playground? See this line? I doube-dare ya. Read more…
Nine guys walk into a room
There wasn’t a priest or rabbi in the bunch. Yes, I was able to get ESPN3′s feed over the net. I watched it to the dinner break when there were four left. This morning the report was that the short stack that looked very vulnerable heading for supper lived up to expectations. Read more…
I am from Washington
Yeah, you know that worn out joke — and I am here to help. We know that’s the big lie. I learned that early on in my career. I mentioned this in passing here before; but old people repeat things and it a story that needs repeating.
It was probably 1964. It was an election year and a while after I’d gotten a dream job. More prestige than money unfortunately. Read more…
Love – Hate
Happens in life. Happens in blogs. Sure as hell happens playing poker. It life’s two outers impinging on our happiness. Poker brings that on — even without help from Federal agents. This is another bit of biased retrospection. The years sneak by and we see the mish-mash of hope, change, and sameness. Love-hate … curse-blessing. Read more…
Damn PBS
Last night I watched PBS. First the Jobs’ retrospective and then one on the real reality in Physics for Dummies Nova. Jobs, at one point, got 4 gold stars to Alexander Bells 3. Looks like my stuff will never be refrigerator door worthy. Then, the physicists really talked down to me. It ended up with the idea that my reality was nothing more than a hologram emanating from some 2-D plane. It left me in need of one of those PBS, faith-healing, ego-building, new-age, pledge-week broadcasts. Read more…
Beware of Greeks
They aren’t bearing them but getting them. And they can’t even do that with a modicum of grace. Politicians of various stripe have their horse in this race to insolvency. The EU is exhibiting paranoia harking back to The Hundred Year War. From it inception it has sought consensus between national interest which have never shown past trust. It has mixed strong economies with weak. That’s taking steel and mixing in tin to come up with a bastard pot metal. Read more…
Halloween
Halloween always leave me confused. Why should some rug rats get to dip into my Reese? One of those damn eastern liberals took me to task over it and showed up to turn the damn light on at the front door to signal miniature looters. I still don’t agree and felt it was time to put power to the sensors/claymores. But, I listened like a sap that I was supposed to get with the feel good. The following picture says it all. Read more…
A Day in the Park
They go by various names for the park, plaza, square and so on. People stroll them on nice days while admiring flowers or the area. A walk in the park is a term referencing an easy accomplishment. Sometimes it isn’t easy. Tahir Square in Egypt is a recent example. A classic one was Tiananmen Square. As American we look at them with disbelief. How could a government do such things to its people? Read more…
