Caution

January 3rd, 2010 1 comment

The following post is about poker. There is a small section on bad beats. Be warned. Reading the following promises to be even beyond boring. But, I have to make a poker post or change the name of the blog – something about truth in advertising... Read more...

Sucking out or not

December 1st, 2009 No comments

This is the first hand I played after sitting on Full Tilt. I had KK6 and just called from early position. I probably should have completed but had just sat and didn't know the other players. I then proceeded to slightly overplay with betting and raising as strong as I could. But, I wasn't even the one to cap the river. Read more...

On not being Studly

November 29th, 2009 1 comment

Stud continues to confuse me like no other game that I've concentrated on. Hold'em I finally understood – well, at least most of the time. I knew why along with what in its happenings. Stud after thousand upon thousand hands hasn't gotten there. It may be that the other players are contributing to that but I saw plenty of bad players playing ring and tournament in other games. The other day, Bam-bam remarked on a hand that was the epitome of stud.   I like this one better.  Of course the fact I won the hand may cloud my argument. Read more...

WCOOP Stud

PokerStars TV is showing the final table of the Stud Hi.  It is an interesting and very dynamic final table.  As the bard said, “Blinds doth make fools of us all.” or something like that.  The commentary is by David Tuchman.  Read more...

How can I lose thee

August 24th, 2009 1 comment

Let me count the ways.  I am not really whining.  At least I don't think I am.  It is all part of the game.  When I was writing back on PokerWorks, Linda was that cartoon character with the black cloud always overhead.  Fact is we all suffer our bad beats.  Variance is bi-directional.  If you can't look at the big picture, you'll end up bitter about the beats. Meanwhile,

back at the ranch.  The ranch being Ultimate Bet these days.  I'm playing a bit of Stud and HORSE.  They changed the points and much more in their favor.  And they are expiring the bonus like other sites.  Bummer!  But, it is still fishy. Read more...

OMG

July 1st, 2009 No comments

Well, my game is doing well.  But, that's a subset of today's post.  I got up this morning and did the normal stuff – made coffee, checked out the RSS feed, you know the rest. Funny, but I didn't see the outcome of the 50K HORSE.  I'd watched it for a while but watching without the hole cam can get boring.  OMG, they are still playing the HORSE. Read more...

Quads

That is as in Quadruple and change.  I guess bitching about the way it is going works.  That also included quads, boats, straights, you name it.  $23 off a $5 buyin limit table in about 70 hands. Read more...

B.W.o.P — The Saga

June 16th, 2009 3 comments

By her own admission, CK has gotten off her not quite Shannon Elizabeth butt and posted about her nice cash at the WSOP.  This was (IMNSHO) the girly tournament of O8 and Stud8.  The girly bit isn’t derogatory.  It points to patience.  And, it gives the distaff group their one, real chance as stalkers.  Women like scooping.  Men like scoop necklines.
