The Beat Goes On

Sonny and Cher may be the only ones not currently suspect in the ongoing Ultimate Bet scandal. I really don't have a whole lot to add and certainly nothing new. Read more...

Mine Salting

January 27th, 2011 10 comments

You know the deal.  They make something look better than it is.  In a mine that’d revolve around firing silver and gold into barren walls.   At the WSOP, it those freerollers who are expecting lightning in a bottle — twice.    For those with limited writing skills, it is your moment to be fired from the cannon. Politics and Poker

December 22nd, 2010 No comments

There have been some excellent blogs about all this. The views and overviews wax and wane in typical Washington manner. One who's stayed above this fray had an unrelated post but there he provided a biblical quote that seems appropriate here.

Cycles

Bill Rini again provides a provocative look at the online poker business. Well, provocative may overstate. But, Bill’s voice is rather unique. It comes as a tangent from the business side of poker. We players avoid that for the most part. Riggstad recognizes the business aspect. But, most posts about it are intermittent – save Bill’s blog. Read more…

NSA type R&R

July 28th, 2010 No comments

Well, it is a topic that just won’t go away. Poker players know risk:reward either well or in a way that puts their sign in Pisces with Pluto ascending their leg – the dog and not the former planet. The site I’m going to leave nameless disclosed their “security alert” for UB. They found the same on Cake. It is a BFD only in their SEO directed minds. That seems a vested interest. Read more…

Yard Work

July 19th, 2010 6 comments

Being retired/burned-out/ExPated allows less cryptic posting of insider thought. His ongoing theme has been how to “keep/attract fish” and, like his counterparts, he does and doesn’t get it. Waffling

July 14th, 2010 6 comments

Sir Waffles gently chided me – well, for Waffles very, very gently. He was parroting common opinion about Ultimate Bet. I have no argument against his accuracy or castigation. The end result being an admonishment for playing there. Read more…

Sizing

July 14th, 2010 1 comment

No, not those. Neither is it about it. I was cured of the latter in freshman football. Barely hairing, a fellow freshman walked to the showers and put every swinging soul in the school on defense. And, I've never seen the likes since — even sharing the showers with any number of black guys. In poker, sizing is a constant argument playing no limit. You’d think most of that would go away when the game is limit. Not true. Read more…

Trip Report – we are now moving to Dante’s third circle (Home of the Glutton)

June 29th, 2010 2 comments

Not a lot to report. I’ve been playing a little and it I suck. As the saga has been told, I’m playing on UB – avoiding giving FT my rake. There aren’t as many tables to choose from. There are/were more Stud8 games for some reason. It is also true that more women are playing them, Anyway. I’ve been playing the S8b tournament (3.30) to try to build some S8b chops. Read more…
