Gonzo Bastard Trouble

Hey that is GBT by another name.  I could have tried and eventually made it a worse play on Groupe Bernard Tappie.  Well, maybe not for the worse you can visit another site.  But, do you like horror stories that much?  GBT makes Chuckie look like a decent playmate.

The guy over at Diamond Flush poker is a recent blog with a past.  He did a lot of the dirt digging that has gone on in the Full Tilt Saga.  When that folded he didn’t quit but set up his own rumor/fact mill.  This time around he’s dropping more about what could have happened.  Never thought I’d say it but, “God Bless Poker Stars.”

A Poker Post

January 29th, 2012 No comments

Well, sort of anyway.  No pot odds or how to play whatever from wherever.  I want to talk about culture.  It started on Bill Rini’s site.  Bill, of course, is more like a shift manager.  Being a simple brush isn’t an apt description.   The recent discussion is about the problem and tribulations of raking money from pots.   That is an obvious problem when your numbers are in decline.  So, the scramble. So I am reading the feeds and the unexpected showed up.   No not her.  I guess not him either.   I”d put the odds about the same as winning the lottery.  Maybe the strong, silent type in the mold of Cooper is up there in the northlands. Read more…

It is all about time.  Boy don’t I know that with an hour glass looking for a refill.  Over at Poker Stars — the place most of us can’t play — they have a new tournament.  It runs for anywhere from 15-minutes to a couple of hours.  Then, they share the pot with those left standing.  Interesting. Know who your friends are

October 2nd, 2011 No comments

That’s good advice but hard to really get around without going through difficulty.  Sickness, various losses or serious problems are when we find who our friends are.  As far as poker goes,  I’ve sliced my RSS feed and dumped a lot the site that were more commercial in goals.   The feeds that are important are the ones I attached some form of real friendship to. Sheep

September 24th, 2011 1 comment

We are aren’t we?  It is almost impossible not to be sheep at some level.  Poker was a place we could avoid or not being sheep.  It was our microcosm of what plays out in the other arenas but we had a modicum of control of that.  It a lot of why we played. Read more…

Fairplay USA

It is a new ‘organization’ that is trying to lobby for online poker.  It is the brainchild of Caesar’s and MGM.  They have a petition to sign.  They’ve hired a Washington PR firm and hired some politicians for their board. Read more…

Lifting the Carpet

June 29th, 2011 No comments

Carpets are handy.  You can lift the edge and sweep a lot of crud under your fancy carpet.  The surroundings look lovely while mold spores and worse fester underneath.  Black Friday continues to expose such rot. Read more…

Hard to come up with a poker post these days but I have one.   It won’t win awards or surprise but it is one of those things that is nice to reinforce from time to time. Read more…
