How to tell a politician is lying
Yeah, it an old line: His lips are moving. With that in mind, I kick it off with one of the Republican’s great white hopes — Governor Christie. I bet you thought I was going to talk about the State of the Union. I’ll get to it; but first, lets talk a little poker.
Tuscaloosa Johny said:
It appears New Jersey may agree to legalize online poker. Gov. Chris Christie seems on board as long as the state’s lawmakers can agree to some of his wishes, which include: — Increasing the tax rate on online poker operators from the proposed 10 percent to 15 percent — Putting more of the state’s revenue into a program to combat problem gambling — Adding a sunset provision that would make the law expire in 10 years if it’s not renewed by the legislature. It would seem that online poker is likely a go in New Jersey if lawmakers can agree to those amendments to the bill.
That paragraph summarizes everything wrong in how we address issues. Now Christie was lauded as the first governor in modern history to include Republican in his résumé. What it proved is another mediocrity can use the nations unhappiness with current direction to land in an office he isn’t qualified to hold. As voters we are very good at doing this.
- Raising taxes does nothing to create jobs or rein in spending.
- Problem gambling is worse in the state’s brainless lottery that pocket 50% of the pot — and still unaddressed?
- Sunset provision are government’s gimmick to steal more at a later date
Other than that, lets something that should be a personal decision come back in a crippled form
Christie is a whore politician. He raked his own party members over the coals when they responsibly tried to limit the Federal giveaway to his state. It ended up in the excessive and egregious giveaway our government is so good at. Going one step farther, he even blatantly knob-polished the chief executive. Integrity once again bows to the expedient. So, is playing to non-existent or the unsolvable by another piece of crap legislation that personifies both parties.
You can go to Wikipedia and see more details. It won’t take much reading between the lines. His turpitude is clear. Hoping that a National bill for poker will even be as good is today’s exercise in futility for poker players and bloggers.
If you are looking for a critique of the President’s ego trip down the House isle, you came to the wrong place. I watched some Globe Trekker and read a bit. Then, I avoided the news. Saved hauling out the BP tester to see if I’d reached stroke grade levels.
Why? I have enough short-term memory left to remember the campaign promises. Remember “HOPE!” well that didn’t work out well, did it? The man hung a left at the inaugural that made it into a U-turn. As Nancy Pellosi put it so well, “We have to pass this to see what is in it.” That’s happening. Various state agencies are describing 50 to 80 percent increases in just the very basic requirement. That is not a jobs creator; that is a jobs destroyer. It seems the jest of the matter is that his last term wasn’t good enough and now the glove are coming off. OMG!

My frustration with Washington is so high that I try not to write about it or comment on it. I, like you, didn’t watch the SOTU, mainly because I’m afraid I would blow out my BP monitor.
I noticed that quite a few businesses are reducing their full time employees to part timers in order to avoid paying for their health care. Ms Duck’s employer one upped ‘em… they just started firing people left and right, her included.
ARRGGGG!!! Where’s my BP monitor?
What business are doing was predictable and necessary. Business that fail to make a profit are failing business. Benefits and taxes continue to expand beyond the ability of normal cost controls and inflation to soften the blow.
Your family’s plight is typical. Your disposable income has decline as a result and, even there, you are more fortunate than many. It a story that is too common. Every effort by government has done nothing to improve that. The middle income arena is being decimated. Little wonder that approval of any government entity is at all time lows.
Our political system is broken and I don’t think it can be fixed. “Help! I’ve fallen and can’t get up.”
Well, we’ve had a tradition of fixing our failures and pendulum swings. Our resilience is one of our better attributes. Hopefully, the path back won’t be a dark age.
I have to say though that this swing has made it past the bleachers. We’ve as much to fix as we’ve ever had on or at the plate.
There is a congressmen from Michigan that has put the reason for each of his votes on Facebook. His own party has called him a nutcase because he is too opposed to the spending. That personifies the real problem when you think about how entrenched this process has become. The change won’t be an easy one.
In Illinois, we continue to wait for the big pension showdown. I am getting too old — my back is hurting from all this bending over.
I guess it is called a Governor Tease or a Legislator Tease over there. No woodies in sight as the state flounders along.,
