Be Afraid

Be very much afraid.  Why, you ask.  Because you are likely a U.S. citizen. (That’s far from 100% but it is certainly the majority.)

America — as we simplistically refer to it —  is the land of the free and the home of the brave.  We have a Constitution that is called the  greatest and it is bolstered by the Bill of Rights.  People in the past ached, connived, and would do almost anything — including leaving family and friends and not knowing the language to arrive at Ellis Island.

What has changed?   Things like this.   A promising young man is terrified of coming to America with all its assumed guarantees of fairness.

Back in the stone age, I ran a BBS.  I had a small but popular BBS called Toolkit BBS.  It had download privileges based on a generous uploading ratio. It mostly revolved around programming and sharing code.  One nice guy from one of the smaller Canadian provinces uploaded porn.  I never was big on porn but left it based on my Libertarian leanings.  Were any of the young ladies under 18?  Odd are.  But, I wasn’t even looking at the stuff.  These days I wouldn’t be as cavalier.  And if I was, I might make have a better chance of being on the county’s list of sexually convicted felons than the top of the Google listings.  Would you feel safer if that occurred?  Same question about the kid mentioned and loved by at least his mom.

Obviously he is a criminal. He has broken the laws of commerce! All Bow down to the mighty US dollar! None shall oppose it!

I wonder what the rest of the story is. What did TVShack do that was so bad? I believe in the justice system so if the young man did nothing wrong, it’ll come out as such.

He provided links to links to video files for commercial TV shows.

Here is a similar site: http://tv.blinkx.com/show/csi-crime-scene-investigation/k8I_PI1zzeeh6kzA

I think you guys are the naive ones. I suspect there’s more to it than providing video files for TV shows.

Wrong Josie. I should say “as usual” … how about a simple again? :)

Descriptions of the site and its operation abound. It had nothing on the server beyond links to items on other servers. Have you ever seen some of your stuff on another site? That’s the way he got his page hits.

He was doing, in concentrated form and purpose, what Google does. But they let you watch a show instead of giving out text.
