Hit & Run
This isn’t about that deplorable ad from Allstate. You know the one. Some idiot named Mayhem does idiot thing to get you to buy overpriced insurance from a company with idiot policies. Did I mention idiotic along the way? But, no this is about my deplorable behavior.
I sort of transitioned to Stud8b. I did that by play a little tournament (3.30) that goes off every morning. Afterward, you could usually find the bust-outs play some ring. For some reason that hasn’t happened of late at the cheap seat level my bankroll supports. What I’ve been finding is a 1-2 table. I played that and a bit higher in the past but, like I said, I don’t have the roll to really support playing it on UB. But, of course I did with a bit of discomfort.
I killed it quickly and early. So, do I do my normal thing and bleed it away or may keep it going? No, I’ve been doing the hit and run. The BB’s per is an outlier that isn’t maintainable. The default buyin is 10 BB. ($20) I’ve been doubling up on average and walking. It has helped the bankroll.
The other day’s blog was about why many of us play. It is for the recreation/fun. What I managed here hasn’t really contributed to that. Profitable? Yes and I won’t complain about that. The thing is I’ve always thought bankroll management important. That’s especially true post UIGEA.
It the old (Neteller) days, I could look at a bankroll aggregate. Now I think based on site. That’s led me to play that isn’t as much fun or my normal process.
From what I’ve seen the players aren’t any better or worse than those at other levels. What they are is more aggressive early. I’m slowly learning to accept Sklansky’s premise that early aggression has limited +EV. At this level it isn’t as big a negative as it is at lesser stakes. But, the flavor of the board has a large bearing which the poorer players ignore.
With the aggression and wanting to avoid rebuys, I’ve gotten lucky and did the hit and run thing. Good for the bankroll but not a lot of real gratification.

It's an interesting dilemma isn't it? One that reaches deep into the cross between "reasonable" and "necessary." FWIW in my case, I try to maintain a set balance on the bankroll. Call me waffles all you want but for me to have fun, it's all about break even baby! When I drop and get the chance to hit 'n' run, I;ll take the amount that gets me back in my comfort range for sure. Other than that, I waste it all in blogger games. :p
