Spread Limit
Well, you got your limit grinders. You’ve got Euro facing Pot Limit. And, of course, TV’s favorite No Limit. But, there is another form spread in many casinos that isn’t even a gleam in the eyes of the sites.
Spread limit is a bit like this and a bit like that. It does and doesn’t reward aggression quite like any of the other form. The problem of course with limit is that you can’t penalize a chaser. In moving to HORSE and then Stud, that is an early frustration point for those who’ve play and think no limit. It forces a major change in mindset.
Spread limit allow the better more latitude. The house might be spreading 1-6. It allows one to make a proportioned bet that they feel will most benefit their hand. The programming change for the most basic form of spread limit is already coded. In pot limit the high end of the allowed bet changes as the pot progresses. This same code could be used with a fixed variable replacing the pot size variable.
I’ve written to almost every site out there asking them to add spread limit. The response has been a platitude riddled form letter thanking me for my suggestion. So, I’m asking folks to blog or write the site to try and get this going.
I think the benefits of spread limit would be manifold. It is an acceptable transition for the majority of player who are most familiar with no limit games. It would give them a much less painful transition to the non-flop side of the isle. It adds a degree of thinking to the limit side that would benefit the better players. It provides a more controlled risk:reward.

The Goldstrike Casino in Tunica was offering $4/8 spread limit. The blinds were only $1/2. Preflop, you still had to come in for $4. On the last two streets, you could bet anywhere from $4 to $8 which is interesting. You have the nuts. If you be $8, the fish might fold, but for only $4 they might call — hmm….
I believe they quit offering it not long ago, but I actually liked it.
