Helmuth gets Role
Our favorite diva, Phil Helmuth, has gotten a roll on CSI, NY. It will, of course, be one of the staring roles. Congrats to Phil.
The roll is a the key actor in the program. He will play Dead Guy One.
The following was released by the producer. Oliver Shmidlap:
We had Mr. Helmuth in mind for a different show. But, his recent acting at the final table he lucked into where he lay in a fetal position for minutes makes us think he could play such a diverse roll as Dead Guy One.
We had long thought about using this actor in our show but hadn’t realized his diversity. We had him down for far different roles: Psychotic Spelling Bee Murder or Neurotic Diva 3. We are fortunate he was able to demonstrate his versatility and seem perfect for this roll.
It is always great when our poker stars can branch out into other efforts. Although, when interviewed, and asked about Mr. Helmuth’s poker stardom, Shmidlap responded, “He plays poker too? I’ve seen him there but I thought he was part of the entertainment. Who’d have guessed he plays poker too!”

They’ve been trying to get him into the role of DG1 for a long time. They even tried to write episodes where DG1 was able to talk but since they’ve seen he can keep his trap shut for at least 4 minutes they went back to the original concept of non-speaking dead guy.
