The Job Shop
That's my new name for Washington – the eastern city one. The Prez recently crowed they've created 2-million jobs.
Now the stimulus package used to create this approaches 800-billion. OK, the amount already spent approaches “only” 400-billion. And from that we created 2-million jobs. You do the math. Seems we had enough money/job to instead just pay off the underwater mortgage of the folks out of work. For those who don't own homes, we could have bought them a modest one. That'd have started the construction industry back to solvency.
Jobs are not just lost. They are destroyed. We do that on a regular basis. In my Grandfather's day it was the buggy whip industry. Dad saw a different list. But, at no time was it more dramatic than in my day. We've axed a ton of jobs that only required one's labor. Today's work force is an educated one. That brought us greater wealth and greater problems. Welfare grew as our schools can only seem to graduate 50-70% of the students.
Every effort I see being made is to revitalize the laborer market. For every degreed road builder there's a gross of grunts. The jobs people want for true success are being ignored. The workforce that can preform those jobs isn't being created by our schools.
What do any of our politicians have to crow about here?
ADDENDUM:
One of the places great, new jobs happened is a spot called silicon valley. I see this morning that one of those companies just announced a 25% increase in profits. Way to go Mama! I'm sure a nice chunk of that is due to your hard efforts. Could there be something nicer than a Ford in one spouse's future?
