That me. Time to admit that time has marched on and I’ve just wandered about. This Internet thingy is a complex beast that has mastered me.
Yesterday, I finally got off my duff. For a long time, I’d known that my relationship with Google had gone sour. When I set up this server account and installed WordPress, it wasn’t an easy happening. The ‘support’ I got was diabolical. The guy saw my failings and proceeded to have a bit of fun. I recognized the operation but wasn’t skilled enough to overcome it.
The guy finally created a redirect that made things seem ok. Well, it worked anyway. When you entered www.pokerperambulation.com it redirected to pokerperambulation.com/wordpress. Google doesn’t like such carrying on. It happened before when my original address was similar at Pokerworks.com. That even corrupted their page rank in other area and moved the site to what’s referred to a the penalty box. You lost any seniority your link pimping and traffic had provided.
I’d been seeing that the few links I had weren’t being honored. I got a link from The Wife that again pointed all that out. If you click on the link and then her link to me, you’ll now hit a 404 error.
So, I spent $19.95 for “Level 7” support and 30-minute max responses. Should have done it at the start and avoided all the stupidity. The guy fixed it. That took some work and they didn’t make out on the $19.95 unless their Level 7 support guys don’t make as much as the guys at MickyD’s. And, it will run for a year.
So, here I am at the right address and my old page ranking from Google is back in place. I’m right with Google but probably broke all the RSS feeds. If you use RSS and read this without changing anything, I’d appreciate a shout. I doubt there will be shouts.
