Chips
No California Highway Patrol special today. There's been an exchange about smart play. No Limit tournament lives often in the moment. The hand we've been analyzing away at has two side that can be supported. The aggressive player wanted the pot overage and went for it with your basic zip, nada, zilch. Then he went runner-runner.
Seems a clever play at a dry pot. There are unwritten rules about dry pots and elimination. Maybe you feel the bubble play works for you and you'd like to see it extended – even with two hours producing just 13 hands.
If you've played a lot of tournaments, you've seen the odds. And you've seen those odds crushed. Chips are powerful but so is the chair. I watched some sick chip up action over the years. That unwritten rule understands what's possible. Two-thirds of the way into this video a player is setting with less than one big bet. Watch what happens.
ADDENDUM:
You might want to throw Oct 2 at 7:00 EST in your calendar. I imagine Otis might mention it too. It is the final table of the Big money event at EPT London. I enjoy watching at least some of them and then seeing what the players held in some key folds. It makes for nice instructional reads.
