You Lie
I thought I could stay away from the obvious blog but I am weak. I could have probably used “Mountains and Mole Hills” for a title but I hate to add clichéd to my blog description — that is my reader’s duty. The thing is we’ve all put our foot or other part in an orifice at times. In my days of the draft, there were a collection of jokes about dropping an f-bomb on Mom during one’s first leave. Not far from the fact for many.
When did Washington get taken over by Miss Manners? If that was tried, she failed. A recent 60 Minutes piece had the White House glorying in the pit bull profanity Mr. Rohm Emanual used on friend and foe alike. Thats the same joint that's blamed George and clan for everything except WWII and who's PAC compared Bush to Hitler.
Every once in a while, I view the question session in the British parliament. The acts of Mr. Miller there wouldn't even get you screen time. I happen to like the gentler version we at least parrot in public. But, politicians are always happy to cut the opposition's throat as long as there isn't video.
The WSJ has a piece on how it was received in his home district. The other fact going unnoticed is the remark that engendered the stupidity. It was about including illegals in the new health care system. The original draft did have that included. It was only altered under fire. Maybe the guy should have used fib instead.
Everybody is talking about the partisanship. But, there are Blue Dog Democrats mucking up the proposal as much as the minority party. It all hearkens back to the Dixiecrats of my youth. Hard ball politics is happening and it came out of the White House starting on day one. The White House is a history of empowered Presidents thinking they were two-thirds instead of one-third of the balance of power. All those I've viewed in my years found their premise an error.
What it all boils down to is saying “You lie!” to a politician of any stripe theses days seems a bit redundant.
You see all this was explained to me long ago by my Momma. She said, “If you want respect then give it.”
