This and That
My viewing of TV yesterday was eclectic. It started on the Internet at pokerstars.tv. It ended in a channel surfing session including the joint session. First, and most enjoyable was the EPT.
Some final tables don't keep me riveted. Well, none do in this hole cam inspired world. But this one came darn close. It was live and managed to hold my interest. The winner was some snot nosed kid (not really, seemed very grounded) named Carter Phillips. The heads up was a bit of a marathon. Both were appropriately aggressive and could change gears. Neither seemed to find the killer situation. It went back and forth. There will be a hole card version around after they get the editing going. I'd really like to see that.
I guess I didn't much care for his opponent – a Brit named Marc Goodwin. It was a generational thing, I think. I came from a time where hats were on the wain but still subject to tradition.

You don't wear a snap brim like it was a yarmulke.
de classe squared
He also had a problem with control and talked a bit of trash without really tilting. Seemed arrogant which fits my idea of guys who wear their hat like that.
Anyway, I highly recommend viewing the Barcelona final table when it is available. Two excellent players in the heads up and a lot of quality play throughout.
I watched the Joint Session in man mode – channel shifting in orgy mode. I just can't take a lot of drama these days. And, it takes an effort and a real interest to maintain interest. It is the same reason I play so few tournaments these days. So, I got gists rather than real content.
Barack would make a great snake oil salesmen. No, I'm not saying he is one but he's established the right patter. His presentation is very stylized – along with hugely effective. He makes Reagan forfit the Great Communicator title. It a bit surprising because he does seem a bit ponderous. Really makes it work though.
I also caught the bit with the liar comment. OMG how can somebody blow it so badly. The man had no self control, if he was sincere.
In my little bits of viewing I caught what really seemed a lie. The President said that this would not add a dime to the deficit. I think even a HP VP would be stressed to come up with that business plan.
Barack could use a better back drop. The paneling is nice but in the rest of the background you got Joe and then
She reminds me of one of those women with one face lift too many – a weird and unchanging expression reminiscent of Mad Magazine.
I am playing a bit of poker. The new idea is to quit if I've played a reasonable number of hands and have a declining win -- regardless of size. I guess I'm trying to remove a bit of the ping from the ping ponging. I cashed at UB so only have money on Full Tilt. Bonus clearing at UB went from easy-peazy to a real struggle and it just isn't worth hoping for a decent table to come up in the stud or HORSE sections. FT always has a game and if the bonus is gone so is the allure of UB.

I’m sure I know an HP VP or so that might find it a little skeptical that it won’t add a dime. Well, of course, unless we offshore a majority of the healthcare workers, cut travel budgets, and have our entire healthcare system on a web-based self-help basis . . . we are talking about healthcare, right?
