Oh, it’s crying time again, you’re gonna leave me

I can see that far away look in your eyes
I can tell by the way you hold me darling Oooh
That it won’t be long before it’s crying time

This morning I'm doing something that's hard to do and that I avoid more than I should.  I've been visiting some of the MilBlogs.  I often start leaking in confirming that most of us don't deserve their dedication to us.  There was this one was about something that most of us thought pretty neat.  Otis sent DrChako a guitar while he was deployed.  Nice story.  A great outcome.  It was a grabber.

This story is great too but the outcome isn't.  It is one of those that makes me avoid the MilBlogs until I can't do it any longer. But, it is about a guitar.

Coming back to my little corner of this country leaves me disgusted.  George W. was a screw up in so many ways.  But, he avoided the micro managment that caused disaster in Vietnam. He let the generals general and the soldiers soldier.  And he trusted the Petreaus doctrine and damn but it worked.

Today's politicians are second guessing everything and everybody.  They seem to think a war zone can be kept sterile and high minded in all respects.   George sure had his faults but they at least came with full support for our troops.

I just can't fathom how today's politicians can arrive where they have.   It sure as hell isn't where the American population resides.   We have another Greatest Generation doing our dirty work for us.  Like us they aren't perfect but they are a damn site closer to it than our politicians.

ADDENDUM:

Time for me to at least do a little something other than completely watch from afar.

Why not join me?

Thanks for reminding me of such a great memory. Unfortunately, I just can’t bring myself to take an active interest in the tragedies that are unfolding out there today. Too painful.

I understand Doc. I have to drag myself to it and it hurts every time. For the been there and done that crowd, that’s exponentially harder.
