Grump and Grump

No, not the vaudeville act. I can be one and you know who says he is one and who am I to argue. If you went to the link, you read the sad tale. It was a bone head play. I didn’t know that until he told me. What I do know is that the affect us all. Tell me you don’t and I call you a liar or a Methodist minister. And my Lutheran minister will cover the bet on which is which.

I think I know – at least partially – the why of it. He full of those truism quotes and he also mentioned one from Unger that goes, “Nobody has beaten me at card. I have only beaten myself.” Interesting source. Stuey was known as a loose cannon kind of player with a lot of knowledge behind the effort. That isn’t Grump.

So, why? I’d say comfort level. Another way to discuss it would be adrenalin. His blog mentions he has a good track record. And he wasn’t aware of it until forced to check. Those were comfort level tournaments. “The Razor” didn’t make it for those. Now throw in the hype of, “Damn, this is the WSOP as in W S O P.” and it isn’t like any of those other 61 he mentioned.

Even though he plays casino roulette more than most locals. All those places are in his wheelhouse. He doesn’t need the pregame pep talk he gave himself for this one. Those reminder to play smart weren’t what he was telling himself before hitting Binnion’s. There wasn’t a need to for either. It just shows to go you that he was feeling heat before the morning’s three esses.

I used to play a ton of sit and goes. When I’d lay off for a while, it would take a while to feel right. People talk about the zone. Comfort is a requirement for that for most of us. There are some who seek out discomfort and use it. Most of us don’t.

He didn’t lose. If you think so, you haven’t thought it out. He, well, paid dues. That’s a hokey way to put it but it is something everybody does. I did it moving from ring to SnG to Tournament to HORSE to Stud. I sure didn’t need to learn the basic after a while. What I needed was to fit easily in my skin. This latest bout with stud took me longer than it took me to get started playing sorta decent poker.

Wait ’til next year or week or whenever. Only the dumb ones don’t learn this way but then they just don’t learn.

ADDENDUM:

Well, www.pokerperambulation.com and blog.pokerperambulation.com finally point to this blog. I wish I could say I did it with skill and knowledge. But, what happened was I finally pestered the support people with enough questions that they decided to go the easy route Now, if I can keep the hams out of the beans…

I still trying to figure out WordPress. Using is easy-peasy. I did that for two years. But I haven’t figured out how to get Google Analytics to play nice. One of the reasons I wanted to move from the old site was there analysis stuff was way rudementary. So, if anybody can tell me how to get the code snippet placed properly without doing it manually for each blog, please drop me a note. WebmasterAThere will do it.

I did try to go to a local bookstore to get some books that’d help but the economy (and Amazon) had closed the one I was at a while back. Any suggestions for a good book there would be appreciated too.

Any Hi in the comments to let me know somebody found the new place would be appreciated.
