The state of Delaware has kicked the statue to Pete in the cajones. If you remember, one of the moving forces in passing the UIGEA was our beloved NFL. It is their RIAA style issue. Such issues follow the idea behind the St. Valentine’s Day Massacre — gun down every SOB walking the area. The NFL must have read Pauly and decided that all poker players were sports book finatics. And, betting on the outcome of 22-guys banging heads is unamerican. So, they thrown their muscle into the Washington fray. Your NFL passport purchase is financing the guys that are trying to take an ax to your poker table.
It looks to me like a classic bit of proof that Capitalism can be as stupid as all the other ideas about the workings of human nature and where the ease of fleecing it can also bite you in the backside. With revenue down the pols look for new revenue. They don’t look far usually and any form of sin tax is where they gravitate. All the NFL has done is point toward such sins. Meantime, the silent red men have found a goldmine in casinos and reservation tobacco sales.
